Children’s Home Society of Minnesota
Adoption
We are driven by a belief in the fundamental human rights of children to have security, opportunity & a loving family. We believe, whenever possible that children should remain with their family of origin. When that is not possible, children should be cared for by relatives/kin, or in their community. When those safety nets are not available, adoption is a better alternative to institutional or long-term foster care.
We can help you grow your family through the following services:
International Adoption
We have a number of international programs dedicated to helping children of all ages and backgrounds find permanent, loving homes. As part of our programs, we work diligently to advocate for children who wait due to age, identified needs, sensitive histories, or because they are a part of a sibling group.
Each country’s adoption process offers its own unique challenges and rewards. Our experienced staff will help your family prepare for adopting internationally with pre-adoptive training, in-country and travel resources, and ongoing support throughout every step of the process.
We will also support families adopting internationally, who live in Maryland, Minnesota, Virginia, and Wisconsin with home study services.
Foster Care Adoption
Our foster care adoption program serves children under Minnesota state guardianship or tribal jurisdiction with a goal of permanency through adoption. We strive to support Minnesota families adopting from the U.S. foster care system– especially those seeking to create a permanent home for older children, siblings, and children with identified needs. We will help your family prepare for adopting children from foster care with a home study, pre-adoptive training, foster care licensing, and ongoing support throughout every step of the process.
Our foster care adoption program serves families and individuals living in Minnesota.
Domestic Infant Adoption
Through our domestic infant program, expectant parents choose an adoptive family for their child. The relationships built in this program are open: birth and adoptive families work together to plan a relationship that goes beyond the placement of their child. We will help your family prepare to build your family through open adoption with a home study, pre-adoptive training, outreach resources, and ongoing support throughout every step of the process.
Our domestic infant program is open to families living in Maryland, Minnesota, and Virginia. We can also provide home study services for domestic infant adoption to families residing in those states.
Proudly Serving ALL Families
Our services are available to all people regardless of race, color, ethnicity, religion, disability, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.
